Saluyot :Corchorus

This is one of my favorite vegetable. We've been eating so much saluyot since i was a child. We just simply picked the saluyot tops (young leaves only ) from the fields free and cooked with bagoong (anchovy) vinegar and garlic. Put a little water just enough to cook the saluyot leaves. It is just like cooking the way like paksiw. We love also the recipe like denengdeng or inabraw na saluyot . This is very nutritious food and good source of betacarotene, iron, calcium and Vitamin C. The plant has also an antioxidant activity with a significant a-tocopherol equivalent Vitamin E according to wikipedia.
But my folks really loves saluyot almost everyday especially on rainy season. They believed that saluyot makes them bones strong and healthy. First semester is over

Wow! first semester is over . Time flies so fast. Great. I like it so that one year will finished soon. But enrollment again for second semester next week. This is the problem again. I wish to go home this November

Wow! Thank God! Typhoon Ramil is gone to Taiwan. This was expected supertyphoon that can devastate again some provinces of Northern Luzon like Cagayan, Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, Benguet, Baguio, Pangasinan and La Union. The local officials, military , National Red Cross rescue team were on alert and ready for everything in case this typhoon hit them but fortunately it was just passed by away from Philippine land.
Now, i am planning to go to my home province to visit my relatives and for breathtaking purposes. How i wish that bridges ruined by the typhoon Ondoy and Pepeng are already fixed by the Department of highways and safe for use by travelers. November is fast approaching and i must be there to visit my parent's tomb.

My neighbor's wallet snatched

My neighbor came to me yesterday. She's crying because her wallet snatched in LRT yesterday. They rode the train from Bambang Station to Pedro Gil Station. She was with her big man son when 3 young adults women dressed nicely rounded them inside the train. She suspected and checked pocket but she found out her wallet with three thousand pesos gone. They just came from San Lazaro Hospital for the vaccination for anti rabies of her son. She spent 700 pesos each injection and the money left in her wallet is for electrict bill payment and fare only but unfortunately it was all gone. That is the only money she had. It was good her son has 100 pesos in his wallet so they can able to reach their relatives to owe money for their electric bill. Also yesterday, one house of a congressman in Wack Wack Village was robbed and money , jewelries and expensive belongings was sucked off. And last Sunday a Jewelry store inside Glorieta is also robbed. Those are only an iceberg of so many robbery and snatching stories happens everyday now here in Metro Manila specially now that Christmas is fast approaching. These is the time that Filipino people received their 13th month pays and bunoses and took immediately the chance to shop for Christmas decorations, Christmass gifts and other stuffs for Christmas. This is how Filipino traditionally celebrate Christmas to make this occasion happier and merrier and of course the spiritual is already within the heart of everyone but this anti -good people (i hate to say evil) do bad instead of peace but it is an opposite. Can't stand

Last Sunday I went to church then passed by in one big mall to shop because they have a three days sale. I think that day was the last day sale. I planned to shop anything that i'll find necessary but unfortunately i can't stand the big crowd. Too much shoppers in every corner of the mall. Planning for a new look house

Wow. the broken tiles in my kitchen is already fixed. I change the top of the cabinet entirely with new tiles. It looks better now. It takes so many months until i found a carpenter to make it. I have came accross about this Black Paella recipe not only once or twice from different magazines and newspapers. It means it is already a common recipe but i have not seen or taste even once. I am so sure this is delicious because i like very much squid either sauted or grilled.I am graving for Black Paella but i can't try at home because my son is not eating squid. How i wished the time when the family is big, i can cooked anything at least other members do not dislike squid. I copied this recipe from one magazine.

BLACK PAELLA

120 g -squid, leaned and sliced into rings
1/4 tsp salt
1/4 pepper
4 tooth of garlic and minced
2 onions and chopped
1 tablespoon of extra virgin olive oil
1 cup rice California to be sure it is not sticky
1/4 white wine
3 cups chicken stock
1/4 cup squid ink
Procedure:
Season squid with salt and pepper and set aside. Heat olive oil or any oil if extra virgin oil is not available in a thick-bottomed non-stick pan. Saute garlic and onion then add squid and cooked until almost halfly done then add rice and continue sauteing for several minutes then pour the the white wine. Add the chicken stocks and squid ink. Simmer untill fully cooked about 20 to 25 minutes. Garnish with bell pepper and lemon.

Fried Chicken

I'll do again my fried chicken recipe. It is the simpliest but it is the favorite of my kids and this is good for me because i'll do it while i am blogging. I have still chicken stock in my refrigerator so I'll do chicken gravy. How? This is it....
>About one-to two cups of chicken stock , bring to boil and add 1/4 of a chicken cube. Any brand of chicken cube. I used Chicken Knorr cube.
>Boil it to 3-5 minutes . Taste and put salt if necessary.
>1 spoon of cornstarch and dissolve with little water then mix with the boiling chicken stock. >Lower down the heat and mix the cornstarch. Stir continously until done like a saucy gravy.

Bearable pains

Time flies so fast. I didn't noticed , it's again 5:30 PM. I 've been busy to do four paid post. It is time to cook for our dinner again but until now i have no idea what to cook. I want to sleep but can not, other wise nobody will attend our costumer in my store. and no one will cook for the dinner. I have also fix my finished laundries which are still hang outside. Woke up late

I woke up very late and i still feels so weak. I was waken up by a painful contraction of my stomach at the middle of the night . So painful made me four times back and forth to the toilet around 1:oo to 2:30 AM. I am wondering what made me wrong. I didn't ate so much on the evening. It was just enough rice, pork chop and blanch cabbage with a cup of sweetened banana (saba) as my dessert. I poured almost 0ne fourth of the cup with evaporated milk on it. I suspected the evaporated milk so i scanned the garbage again to check the can for the expiry date but found it to be expires on 2010. I double checked for the wrappers and the can itself but looks new and no rust at all. About the banana? This is fresh from the province of my in-law just two days ago so i have no doubt about the banana.
Whatever, now i am just taking a cup of coffee with a little soda biscuit. I am afraid to take a full breakfast yet until my stomach settled. I have to blog now because i have one paid post to do and 2 in my other blogs.
