New Year's Eve 2014

Well , though i am alone celebrating New Year's Eve, i still cook Pancit  Guisado and make Rice Cake. I chose pancit because it is what i am wanting to eat this evening, a home made pancit guisado. Rice cake is needed on the table brings family stick together according to Feng Sui. I have also completed 12 rouded fruits placed on my dining table. These rounded  fruits brings prosperity. I believe that all blessings we received are from God  but nothing wrong preparing allthese food, They are healthy food anyway.
I really missed my kids. Though my children are far away from home, i still believe that in our heart and in their hearts we are celebrating New Years Eve together as we used to like on the previous years.  Happy New Year to me and to my dearest kids. I love you so much kids. May Our Almighty Father continue guiding us. May God  give us Happiness and Prosperous life all throughout the year!!

Embotido recipe

Yesterday, i made Embotido. I served it for our breakfast today. It is tasty really because i got the recipe from a friend who studied culinary. My children said its perfect unlike the embotido they have tasted in their school canteen and else where.
It was a long time planning to try this recipe but was not pursued because i thought it needs a lot of time and it would be a big work. I am not busy yesterday and nothing much doing so i decided to try to make this embotido recipe and yehhh!! success!!
This is how i made it.
In a medium bowl, two tasty bread soak in milk until soft
Add ground pork , raisins, carrots (chopped in small cubes), potato (chopped same as carrots), green peas, grated cheese, onion and pickle relish, chopped celery, finely chopped bell pepper, egg, salt and pepper. Mix well .
Put the desired amount of mixture in every sheet of aluminum foil. Shape into cylinder and rolled tightly. Steam in 30- 45 minutes.

Take rest

Friends out there. I 'll just a take a a one hour break and come back later. I just take my snack a while. I prepare this morning chicken sandwich for the three of us and only now that i am going to eat my part.

I can't help

I used to drink hot coffee four to five cups a day. I tried to lessen my habit of drinking too much coffee, or as much as possible i would like to stop totally. I could not sleep in the night if i drink coffee starting before lunch. Instead of hot coffee i choose to drink half cup of hot choco milk just to destruct my strong restless desire to drink coffee. I think i am already slightly addicted. and hot coffee as an alternative but can't help it makes me nauseated.
Coffee is an anti-oxidant. Antioxidants may possibly reduce the risks of cancer and gives anti aging effect to oldish. What i can only advice is to drink minimally. at least one or two, three a day is enough. I must have to lessen the dosage i used too, to make it beneficial for my health.

Tuna steak

Hi friends. It's again Wednesday. Hay!!! time flies so fast. I went to wet market. I found out that price of tuna fish are cheaper these days. Usually the price is more than P 200 per kilo but today it is P160.00 per kilo. Its a big difference and i noticed there is tuna available in every fish stall. It is time for me to take the opportunity to buy and eat tuna as much as i can because i"ve been longing to eat tuna fish at least two or three times a day. . I like very much and many people said and also in the advertisements that tuna is very nutritious and contents omega 3 which is good for the heart. Good for me because there were times that my cholesterol level is slightly above normal and my blood pressure as well.
I bought one kilo but i cook one third of it because we are only three in the house and i kept the other two thirds in the refrigerator.
I marinated with calamansi juice (lemon juice), soy sauce, oyster sauce. dash of pepper and minced garlic for one hour .
I fried the fish halfly with combination of vegetable oil and butter. After frying the fish , i removed from pan and set aside.
Fry some onion rings just slightly like when the onion rings separated to each other and you may set aside.
Return the fish in the pan , put the left over marination and little water enough to cook the tuna fish.
When cooked and become saucy remove from pan and put in a plate , scatter the onion rings over the fish. Serve hot. This is a tuna fish steak!

Fish Ball

I am hungry. I need to take my snacks now. Bread and sandwich spread available in my kitchen but i don't feel like eating them. I am longing for something i can't understand. It s good fish ball vendor passed by. I craved immediately. It's been a year didn't eat fish ball because there were some announcement avoiding people not to buy fish ball in the street. The sauce are contaminated with Hepatitis virus. But my saliva start to droll so i bought fishball and eat. It is very delicious and i am okay.

Mung bean (monggo bean)

It's Friday. I cook sauted monggo beans with ampalaya leaves and pork adobo for our lunch. I am obliged to cook food for our lunch early because my daughter wants food for her lunch from home than buying food near their office where she works. She requested viand with vegetables always.

By the way, i am just wondering why most Filipinos cook monggo beans only on the day of Friday. I don't know the reason behind and i asked my neighbors and vegetable vendors but they don't have any clue.
English word of monggo is a mung. The beans are small, ovoid in shape, and color green.

Cooking Classes in Los Angeles

When i was single i didn't try to cook and didnt have interest to learn different recipes as well. All i know was just plain rice , fried eggs, fried meat and fried fish. That 's all i know to prepare but i eat so much. And whenever i'm home, my mother cook for the whole family or my eldest sister. I was away from them when i was in college and live in a dormitory (board and lodging) so i was not forced to cook my own food. I was working then when my boyfriend who was a very meticulous about food he eat. If possible he does not want to eat in the restaurant. He want food prepared at home. He cooks simple and those time consuming recipes. He knows the taste of food if good or bad. He knows how to cook well and I know only how to eat . LOL! We are exactly opposite.
But friends, Better visit cooking classes Los Angeles before you get married, one asset of a woman that like most of husband is a wife who is a good cook. Prepares the food well for her husband and children makes her be loved more. I know not all woman are not aware of that so they stay relax when they were still single, so i am sharing you this experience. I think cooking is easy to learn but there is a difference between cooking by yourself at home and private cooking class. In private cooking class will teach you everything from the right products to buy, the flavoring, how to clean and prepare, measuring and cooking over the heat. All those steps needs always a technique to make your recipe perfect. Beef burger

Yes. my kids tired of eating the same burger. They asked me to cook something different burger. Luckily, i found one from Yummy recipe book i bought in bookstore in Megamall. A version which is nutritious and delicious as well. They adore the outcome. They said it is like siopao but burger.
The ingredients for the paties are:
3/4 kilo ground beef
1/4 cup minced onions
1 cup Japanese breadcrumbs
2 eggs
1/2 teaspoons pepper
1 teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons liquid seasoning
oil for frying
For filling
1 large carrot cut into small cubes
1/8 Baguio beans cut into small same size with the carrots
1 cup green peas.
1 cup grated cheese
Procedure:
Mix all the ingredients for patties in a bowl
Mix in another bowl all the vegetables and cheese. Set aside
Prepare a pattie from meat mixture , flatten and put enough vegetable mixture at the center of each pattie, gather the edges of the pattie and seal in the vegetable. Do the same for the remaining ingredients.
Fry in hot oil over low fire until meat thoroughly cooked
Serve with rice.

Tips to keep hotdog fresh

Tender juicy hotdog is one hotdogs which my kids favorite. Since they were young they prefer this brand because so deliceous. I always keep this hotdog available in our refrigerator as one of our meal prepares in just 10 to 20 minutes.
To keep always fresh and yummy after cooking ... always put in a freezer and must be sealed. Freezer storage should be clean, neat and free from foul odor. Always keep the tender juicy hotdog away from row fish, meat or poultry to avoid cross contamination. Defrost tender juicy hotdog overnight and cook immediately.

Our breakfast today...

This is what i like of adobo recipe because very easy to cook . Know what ? I can prepare a breakfast for my kids while i am blogging or doing my task. I just combined all the ingredients and put over the medium fire and boils until tender. Simmered for some more minutes until became saucy with oils came out.
Just served it with plain rice because doing fried rice is time consuming. But still a perfect matched because adobo is little bit oily.

Chicken Curry

This is chicken curry is also one of our favorite viand. I cook at least once a week. Here are the ingredients:
1/2 kilo chicken
1 large onion, quartered
1 bell pepper either red or green
1 potato cut into four and fried
ground pepper
fish sauce
2 gloves of garlic and crushed
I/2 cup water
1 tablespoon curry powder
Cut chicken into pieces. Saute garlic until brown then onions until wilted. Add the chicken and fish sauce cook and stir for 3-4 minutes. Add the curry powder and water and the potato , cover and simmer. When chicken chicken almost well done then put the bell pepper just on top of the mixture then continue cooking for only a minute or two. Serve hot.
( coconut milk when chicken is well done)
( add more curry and minced hot pepper for a tastier taste)
